Transcending two realms to become an earth immortal

Chapter 56 The Unpredictable Underworld

Chapter 56 The Unpredictable Underworld

With the Three Corpses as its soul, the Grand Duke Jupiter as its body, and living beings as its wisdom, evil and strange things are carried within, ultimately forming this being that is neither demonic nor Taoist, neither alive nor dead, neither human nor monster—

Three real people!

It is no ordinary creature; ordinary weapons cannot harm it. Even if its head and body are severed, it is difficult to completely destroy it. Instead, it can reside in others and transform into the incarnation of Tai Sui... It can be said to have both the foundation of Taoist ghost immortals and the indestructible nature of evil spirits, which is why it is so difficult to destroy!

"Master..." Upon seeing this, Daoist Mingjun finally showed joy and was about to step forward.

"Stop." However, the three immortals spoke in unison, their voices low and deep, preventing them from getting closer, "Our immortal transformation is not yet stable. Your souls are damaged. If you get too close, there may be unforeseen circumstances."

Daoist Mingjun was taken aback and immediately stopped.

What is immortality?

The True Man of the Past World, born from the Yin Spirit, transforms his physical body, prolongs his life, and undergoes a complete metamorphosis, achieving the appearance of ice-like skin and jade-like bones. Eventually, he attains the perfect form and spirit of the True Man of the Yang Spirit, becoming unlike ordinary people and approaching the divine, ultimately ascending to immortality... This is called Immortality!

In short, it means that one's physical body transcends the level of mortals and transforms into an immortal god!

Of course, this is an old saying.

In this world of upheaval, the universe is corrupted by demons, yin and yang are out of balance, and even the Central Plains have turned into countless illusions. The yang essence has become impure, and the so-called immortal transformation has long since changed beyond recognition.

The yang essence born in this world is no longer the pure and ethereal source of creation that nourished all things in the old world, but rather contains the turbid yin of heaven and earth and bears the filth of the Great Dao.

Its essence is pollution and madness. Instead of nourishing the body, it no longer cleanses the marrow and transforms the body. Instead, it causes the flesh and blood to become deformed and twisted into monsters, gradually developing abnormalities until it transforms into a terrifying appearance that is neither human nor demon, neither monster nor demon.

Take, for example, the three True Immortals before us. At this moment, they still possess human form. However, as their cultivation deepens and they progress towards the Yang God realm, they will gradually become inhuman... until they transform into indescribable evil beings, causing calamities in the world and wreaking havoc, bringing chaos to humanity.

Even now, if a mortal gets close, he would probably be parasitized by the human-faced tumor in an instant, turned into an evil slave, and never be able to escape.

This is the hardship of spiritual practice in this turbid world.

Not only is spiritual energy cut off and evil spirits everywhere, but the path to enlightenment is also fraught with tribulations. Even if one reaches a high realm, one still needs to constantly contend with the filth of heaven and earth and the demonic influence of the Great Dao, with no chance of transcendence.

Furthermore, if one is not careful, one will lose all intelligence and may instantly mutate into a monster that only knows how to kill and devour the living, and be condemned to eternal damnation.

Fang Chen thought to himself:

"Fortunately, I possess the Kunlun Mirror, which allows me to travel to the Pure Spirit World to cultivate my Yang essence and forge my Dao foundation with its Pure Spirit power. This greatly resists the demonic influence of this world, keeping my soul clear and suppressing the inner demons born from the corruption of the human body by the filth of heaven and earth..."

However, his true body is ultimately in this turbid and evil world. He can avoid this pollution for a while, but not forever... Perhaps he can refine an external avatar, or condense a Jade Liquid Golden Elixir as an external elixir to bear the filth of this turbid world.

Just as they were pondering this, the three True Immortals raised their hands and summoned the Zhengyang Spirit Lamp, pointing it into the air.

The lamplight suddenly blazed brightly, no longer dim and yellow, but shining like the midday sun, transforming into a pure halo that completely enveloped its evil form.

Countless twisted, howling, and venomous faces were forcibly forced out from the depths of Tai Sui's flesh and blood. Under the illumination of this Yang fire light, they melted away rapidly like snow meeting boiling water, amidst mournful howls, returning to wisps of Yin energy and soul light, and returning to the body.

Immediately afterwards, the three True Immortals reached deeper into the ruins of the temple.

A streak of light burst forth from the ground, flew to the front of him, hovered in mid-air, revealing the remains of an old man with white hair and a youthful face.

Its face was like that of a living person, with a rosy complexion, and its body was not tainted by any deathly aura. Instead, it exuded a pure and yang vitality... This was the remains of an elder of the Zhengyang Dao in the past. He was born when the four yang energies converged and spent his life cultivating the Great Sun Pure Yang Orthodox Method. He was a true pure yang body.

The three True Immortals transformed into a streak of gray light, directly merging the evil body of the Tai Sui into the pure Yang remains.

In an instant, strange phenomena occurred.

The remains's once white hair had turned jet black, its pale skin regained its rosy hue, and its posture became upright. Its Taoist robes fluttered without wind, and a faint, clear light flowed around it. It looked like a middle-aged Taoist master in his forties, with an air of otherworldly grace. Apart from the three heads on its head, it had no trace of the terrifying appearance of its previous evil body.

The orthodox Xuanmen school emphasizes using profound Taoist cultivation to suppress the abnormal transformations within the body. Even after becoming a Yang God, one must remain concealed and not reveal any unusual signs, appearing no different from an ordinary person.

The demonic path goes against the grain, attempting to control or even activate the power of immortality. In battle, they transform into demons, their ferocity overwhelming, but they are extremely prone to losing control and going mad.

The remaining deities use the power of incense and faith as an anchor to achieve a delicate balance with their immortal bodies. However, incense is poisonous, and if one is not careful, the deities will be bound by the power of the believers' thoughts, lose themselves, and become idealized figures like clay or wooden sculptures.

However, regardless of whether it is Tao, Demon, or God, the essence lies in the word "suppression".

Only those who can suppress the demons within their bodies, the supernatural powers of immortality, and the filth of heaven and earth can be considered virtuous masters and true lords.

If it cannot be suppressed... it will become a great and ferocious demon that brings calamity to the world and everyone has the right to kill it!

However, at this moment, with the evil body of Tai Sui as its body, and the three Yin spirits of the Day Wandering True Man are integrated, these three True Man have profound cultivation and can suppress the immortal transformation.

Furthermore, if one day one can cleanse the evil body of Tai Sui, transform evil into spirit, and return to a pure Yang body; and then merge the three gods within the body into one, and refine a pure Dao soul, then one can directly enter the realm of Yang God True Lord, ascend to the floating immortal island of the Dao realm, and look down upon all living beings in this turbid realm!

But that's a story for another time.

The three True Immortals' gazes swept over Ming Jun, lingered briefly on the sword gourd in Fang Chen's hand, and finally surveyed the devastated dojo.

Deep within his eyes, a profound sorrow and darkness transformed into a long, drawn-out sigh:

"This time... you've really had a tough time."

He looked at Mingjun, his tone complex:

"Mingjun, you forcibly ingested the [Sacrifice to Burn the Spirit Pill], which damaged your soul, burned away your essence and blood, and destroyed your foundation for cultivation. There are no corresponding rare treasures or rare elixirs in the Dao that can help you recover. If you still want to embark on the path of cultivation, I'm afraid the only way is... to forcibly cultivate the [Nirvana Secret Technique], which is a path of putting yourself in a life-or-death situation."

At this point, he turned his head three times, all looking at Fang Chen:

"As for you, Chen'er..."

Before the words were even finished, the expressions on all three faces darkened simultaneously, and they abruptly turned their heads to look outside the temple!

Fang Chen and Ming Jun were also startled and turned around abruptly.

Inside the temple, an endless darkness had suddenly swept in from all directions.

Like ink spilled, or like the evening clouds hanging in the sky, it swallowed up the remaining light and blood color in an instant.

A chilling, deathly aura silently permeated the air, seeping into the very marrow and freezing the very soul, as if in an instant, everyone had fallen from the mortal world into the abyss of darkness.

In the deepest shadows, ghostly figures emerged silently. Their faces were deathly pale, their forms ethereal, their expressions devoid of sorrow or joy, resentment or hatred, only an empty, numb emptiness remained, silently guarding a gate of white bones.

The right half of the gate was as black as night, with endless skeletons carved in relief, layer upon layer; the left half was scarlet like blood, depicting ferocious ghosts, capturing souls and demanding lives...

This is—the Gate to the Underworld!

squeak-

The sound of the door hinges turning seemed to come from the depths of the underworld, and the door opened outwards, revealing a figure.

Its figure was extremely tall, its face as white as paper, its eyes seemingly dark and unsettling, and a half-smile playing at the corners of its mouth. Its long tongue, crimson like blood, hung down its chest, and it wore a tall hat, exuding an air of strict discipline. The surrounding silence suddenly deepened, and the eerie green light vanished in an instant.

It is—

The underworld is unpredictable!
