Chapter 834 - The Divine Authority Greatsword
The ship set sail for the Battleborn Civilization.
He Xu, Han Wu, and Qin Shuang’s mission was to escort Zhan Fanyin. The ship’s crew was made up of Demigods whom He Xu had recruited. They were responsible for the ship’s daily administration and served as cover for a normal merchant convoy.
Zhan Fanyin had calmed down considerably after the beating from Han Wu and no longer dared to pester Qin Shuang. This also left Han Wu more time to talk with He Xu.
Having received some intelligence on Han Wu from Xu Hai, He Xu made sure to pay close attention to his junior brother, even using the ship’s combat simulator to spar with Han Wu in their free time.
The simulator used virtual units identical to their own. When fighting with equal numbers, Han Wu rarely won against He Xu. Even though the individual strength of his units had since improved, they remained naturally weaker against talented opponents.
This didn’t discourage Han Wu in the slightest. Han Wu understood his strengths clearly. His units were not built for one-on-one fights, but to overwhelm the enemy with sheer numbers.
Several rounds of sparring allowed He Xu to identify both Han Wu’s strengths and weaknesses. Han Wu’s raw strength was undeniable, but his control over his Divine Aspects, Divine Authorities, and Divine Jurisdictions fell far short of He Xu’s standard.
He Xu understood that this was likely due to Han Wu’s quick advancement, so he took the time to patiently guide Han Wu in these aspects. Han Wu and Qin Shuang listened with interest. Real field experiences were far more practical than the theoretical knowledge taught by the lecturers.
Divine Aspects were the most basic element that even a Demigod could possess. In the beginning, it served simply as a vessel for Divine Skills, with one Divine Aspect representing either one or more Divine Skills.
Deeper understanding and mastery of the Divine Aspect, however, allowed its use to be extended well beyond merely housing Divine Skills. A holder could use their Divine Aspect as the basis for creating entirely new Divine Skills from existing ones, or even deepening and strengthening their own techniques until they formed new Divine Skills tied to that Aspect.
Han Wu had not reached the level yet.
Divine Aspects aside, his Divine Authorities also had significant room for development. Divine Authorities held part of the power of every Divine Aspect one had and were usually used to suppress enemies and inspire fear. Still, that was only the surface-level application.
A far more advanced use was to temper one’s Divine Authority into a weapon. Weapons forged from one’s Divine Authority tended to develop powerful characteristics of their own and grew alongside their wielder. It was more versatile than any divine-ranked equipment.
Han Wu couldn’t help but recall the Butcher when he heard this explanation. The Butcher’s favorite weapon, the Eight-Faced War Hammer, had been a powerful weapon forged from his Divine Authority. If the Commerce God King had not shattered that Eight-Faced War Hammer when the Butcher tried to confront Xu Hai, the outcome could’ve been much different.
Unfortunately, He Xu didn’t have much to offer on Divine Jurisdictions. He had only recently advanced to Major God a year or two ago, so his understanding of Divine Jurisdictions was on par with or perhaps even less than Han Wu’s. Even so, he could still teach Han Wu how to draw on his Divine Jurisdictions more precisely to enhance his strength.
Han Wu and Qin Shuang keenly listened to He Xu’s advice. After taking in his detailed explanations, they returned to their respective rooms to mull over the application of their Divine Aspects and Divine Authorities.
Qin Shuang held five Divine Aspects and one Divine Authority. They were all lightning-related and shared many common principles, which made them relatively easy to grasp.
Han Wu had a much more challenging situation, as his eight Divine Aspects and two Divine Authorities were all completely different from each other. This meant he had no choice but to work through them one at a time.
He started not with the simpler Divine Aspects, but with Divine Authority 1, which carried the essence of death, destruction, war, and darkness. It was unmistakably a powerful offensive force, and the most suitable for forging into a weapon.
Tempering one’s Divine Authority into a weapon was no easy feat. Every day, Han Wu spent enormous effort just to compress his Divine Authority down to the size of a greatsword. Occasionally, he also needed to spend some Divine Essence to lock the form in place.
After eight full days, a black greatsword made from his own Divine Authority finally took shape in Han Wu’s hands. The blade was black as ink and radiated a bitingly cold killing intent. If you leaned in close, you could hear something like the clash of 10,000 soldiers from within.
The moment the greatsword was formed, it took on a permanent trait called Annihilation, which caused the wounds it inflicted upon living beings to become extraordinarily difficult to heal. This effect would spread from the injury like a parasite gnawing at the bone, endlessly corroding the victim’s life force until they died.
Against non-living objects, it would damage their internal structure and cause damage that could not be repaired.
Satisfied, Han Wu looked forward to finding a few opponents to test the blade on.
At that moment, the ship suddenly stopped. Han Wu sensed something was wrong and ran out to check the situation. He Xu immediately signaled Zhan Fanyin to hide before standing guard over him.
More than ten ships of different types had surrounded them.
