Chapter 312 - 163: You Started This, You Can’t Blame Me
Xu Yun was just teasing Jiang Ping’an.
Of course, the two of them wouldn’t do anything inappropriate in front of a child.
Besides, did they really think they were safe up there, that no one could see them?
In reality, who knew how many cutting-edge smartphones were secretly recording them, ready to be posted online.
So, during the minute or so that Jiang Ping’an obediently counted from 1 to 100, the two of them didn’t continue kissing.
Instead, they just watched him the whole time.
"...98, 99, 100."
Jiang Ping’an finished counting to 100, but he didn’t open his eyes right away.
Instead, he asked with a smile, "Sis, are you guys done kissing? I’m going to open my eyes now."
Xu Yun laughed. "Go ahead and open them."
Jiang Ping’an opened his eyes and was a little surprised to see them both staring at him.
He put on a cute, all-knowing expression and said, "Don’t think I don’t get it just because I’m little."
"I’ve seen it on TV. When a boyfriend and girlfriend are together, they like to hug and kiss, and they kiss for a long, long time."
Xu Yun looked at Jiang Peiyao and asked, "What have you been letting your brother watch?"
"..."
Jiang Peiyao blushed, saying in embarrassment, "Jiang Ping’an, I gave you that tablet to watch cartoons. You’re not allowed to watch anything else from now on."
"But it’s true."
Jiang Ping’an pouted, a look of disgust on his face. "Saliva is so gross. I’m never going to kiss a girl. That’s like eating a girl’s spit."
"Not bad!"
Xu Yun couldn’t help but laugh. "You’ve got principles, kid. I hope you remember what you said today."
"I will! If I ever kiss a girl, I’ll be a little puppy."
"Awesome!"
Xu Yun gave his "puppy head" a premature pat and said, "Alright, let’s get going. Time to get off."
The trio spent the whole afternoon at the amusement park.
Because of his health, Jiang Ping’an didn’t go on any thrilling rides. Instead, it was Xu Yun and Jiang Peiyao who had a blast.
The two of them screamed their heads off on the rides.
This made Jiang Ping’an, who was waiting below, very frustrated. They had promised to bring *him* to have fun, but most of the time, he was just a spectator.
He swore that once he got better, he would come back and ride everything.
As they were leaving, Xu Yun and Jiang Peiyao also promised him that they would bring him again once he was completely healthy.
That evening, they had a big seafood feast.
It was Jiang Ping’an’s first time seeing such huge crabs and lobsters in person. His eyes went wide, and he was incredibly excited.
He even asked if they could buy two to take home as pets, which made the staff laugh. They said he was amusing and subconsciously added a compliment, "The little boy’s skin is so fair, just like a girl’s."
The moment she said that, Jiang Ping’an immediately explained, "Miss, my skin isn’t fair, I’m sick."
"I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean anything by it." The waitress realized she had misspoken and immediately apologized to Xu Yun and Jiang Peiyao.
Jiang Peiyao smiled. "It’s alright."
The waitress gave an awkward smile, then turned and left. She never came back; a different server took over for them.
After dinner, the two took Jiang Ping’an back to the hospital and played with him in his room for a while.
When it was time for Jiang Ping’an to sleep, Xu Yun stood up and said, "You should stay here with him. I’m going to head back."
"Okay." Jiang Peiyao nodded. "You go on ahead. I’ll come find you later tonight."
"Oh, Sis, you should go back with Big Bro."
Jiang Ping’an chimed in, smiling understandingly. "I’m a big boy now, I can sleep by myself. Besides, the nurses are here with me. I’m not scared."
"You’re really not scared?"
Xu Yun deliberately tried to scare him. "You know, ghosts with their tongues hanging out wander the halls here at night."
Jiang Ping’an immediately lost his nerve. "Sis..."
Xu Yun could see how worried Jiang Peiyao was about her brother.
He smiled and said, "Your sister will stay here with you tonight, so don’t worry."
Jiang Peiyao gave Xu Yun an apologetic look and walked him to the door of the hospital room.
"I’m sorry. You came all this way just to be with me, but I..."
"It’s fine. We have plenty of time in the future. Taking care of your brother is what’s important."
Xu Yun said, "Don’t worry about me. I might just head back home tonight."
"This late?"
"For me, it’s never too late."
Xu Yun teased, "There were no more flights, so I took a private jet just to see you."
"So I guess you could say I crossed mountains and seas for love, huh?"
"Mmm..."
Visibly moved, Jiang Peiyao promised, "Xu Yun, I know you have many women, but as long as you don’t cast me aside, I will never leave you in this lifetime."
"Don’t. There’s no need for that."
Xu Yun smiled. "If you meet someone you like in the future, just let me know."
"But don’t do it behind my back and cheat on me. I’d get really angry if you did."
"I will never betray you."
Jiang Peiyao said seriously, "I promise!"
"I believe you."
Xu Yun gave her a gentle kiss. Though he said he believed her, in his heart, he never would.
Everyone has different feelings and thoughts at different stages of their lives.
If promises and commitments were truly binding, why do so many of the sacred vows made at wedding ceremonies end up as empty words?
Some even turn into bitter enemies!
Xu Yun believed that in that moment, in that setting, both people were always sincere. They weren’t lying.
It’s just that later, with the passage of time or changes in their lives, people’s hearts slowly change.
Even he, Xu Yun, couldn’t guarantee that he would always be in love with Jiang Peiyao.
Maybe in a week, maybe in a month, he’d suddenly fall out of love.
In relationships between men and women, there was no right or wrong, no forever—only the genuine happiness of the present moment.
