Chapter 1267: The Blood of Valren [Monthly Bonus 2]
When the recording ended, Abigail quietly muttered, "Oh wow. He knew more about it than I did..."
Zaos’s gaze snapped toward his daughter after hearing that statement, which implied this wasn’t the first time she had heard about the World Formation, but Abigail didn’t elaborate on what she meant.
Evan, not wanting the moment to interrupt the discussion, quickly began speaking.
"And there you have it. Each Disaster has at least one or two Executives of the Demonic Hand working on it."
The hologram he had generated earlier appeared again, displaying the list of each Disaster and its overseeing Executive.
The Seven Deadly Sins’ Massacre—Sixth & Tenth Fingers.
The Dullahan Attack—Eighth Finger
The Lizard Lord’s Outbreak—Seventh & Ninth Fingers.
Fall of the Desert Country—Fifth, Sixth & Seventh Fingers.
"That’s how things were supposed to go, but Laurene and I stopped the Deadly Sins massacre from ever happening, Rathal killed the Tenth Finger when he was trying to execute their backup plan, and you all already know how the Dullahan Attack went down in 1052.
The Lizard Lord’s Outbreak ended with the Seventh Finger being injured. I killed the Ninth Finger after that, and with the Fall of the Desert Country, the Fifth Finger died at Rizass’ hand, the Sixth was captured and is currently held in Tarse’s maximum security prison, and the Seventh didn’t take part at all."
Zaos nodded in silence, recalling having seen that Sixth Finger when he went to the Alpha Continent to speak with Kolvar.
Abigail, on the other hand, was surprised to learn this, but she didn’t speak and allowed Evan to continue.
"That leaves the Demonic Hand with only the Seventh, Fourth, Third, Second, and their leader, the First Finger."
When Evan said that, Abigail exhaled softly and shook her head, and noticing that, Evan asked, "Still hung up on Cellica being the Fourth?"
"So you knew even that, huh? Oh well, why am I surprised?" she replied, leaning back in her seat before nodding. "Yeah. I was surprised to find they’d gotten that deep into this Empire.
To think one of our Legends was working with the Demonic Hand."
"Bold of you to assume there’s only one of them," Evan replied, his words making Zaos’ expression darken instantly.
"Explain what you mean by that," he demanded.
"Exactly what you think. There are far more traitors than you’d expect. Even I don’t know all of them."
Evan spoke with a shrug, as though it didn’t concern him, then pointed at the remaining Demonic Hand Executives on his hologram.
"The Seventh Finger is still alive, but she’s a no-go. I can kill her, but the moment I do that, I’d have the Second Finger coming after me, and that’s GAME OVER because she’s stronger than even you, Sir Zaos.
She’s a Level 950 Intermediate Transcendent."
Zaos immediately set aside the matter of traitors, sitting up with narrowed eyes at Evan.
"...are you sure about what you’re saying?"
"Didn’t you ask Sir Kolvar about it? He met Rosaline himself. He should know how powerful she is, and I doubt he’d leave that information out when speaking with you."
Evan dismissed his holograms, clapped his hands, and continued, "The reason Aidosian Transcendents can’t level up is because there’s nothing powerful enough in this world to grant them the EXP they need.
Rosaline saw that and decided the solution was to go to another world."
"You’re saying that like she can travel to other worlds whenever she wants," Zaos chimed in.
"Because she can. She’s the wielder of two ’Child Series’ Unique Skills: Space and Gravity. She can create Spatial Gates, then use gravity to bend and warp space enough to link those gates to other worlds."
The room fell silent after Evan spoke, and he gave them a moment to digest the information before continuing.
"Like every other Executive of the Demonic Hand, the Second Finger has a Disaster she oversees. When it’s time for her to execute her plans, her contracted demon, who’s been idle for the past 1000 years, would finally take action.
I’m planning to stop that Disaster from claiming all the lives it would, and the key figures involved in it need to be dealt with."
Evan generated three holograms at that point, showing the images of Rosaline, Vaeri, and Ulf, her pet wolf.
"Don’t let its appearance fool you, that wolf is something that would require several Iremiths to take down," Evan said quickly before Zaos could comment on its appearance.
He then pointed at Vaeri and continued, "She’s a Peak Rank Noble Demon, the daughter of an Olden Demon King.
She’s an extremely powerful Frost Demon, which is why you and Sir Vulwin will have to team up against her."
Abigail raised an eyebrow when she heard Evan refer to Vaeri as a ’Frost Demon’, and raised a hand as she asked, "You sure about that? Last time I asked some Demonic Hand members, they said Vaeri uses spatial magic like the Second Finger."
Evan chuckled at her words, while Zaos turned to Abigail with a look that seemed to say, ’You didn’t ask anyone anything.’
"You’re not wrong, Abigail. Vaeri has the Harbinger of Space skill. I confirmed it through Series Skill Resonance with my Harbinger of Ice skill when she showed up in Lacertilia.
But I’m 100% sure she’s a Frost Demon."
After speaking, Evan rubbed his chin lightly, then called out to one of his contracted Spirits who wasn’t present.
’Kayla, can you lend me Frostshade for a moment?’
[What for?]
’I just want to show them something, okay?’
Kayla was silent for a moment, then a spark of lightning appeared in the space in front of Evan, and when the flash faded, a sword of dark ice suddenly hovered in the air before him, radiating immense demonic energy.
"...can you at least warn us before bringing out something that dangerous?" Eliza quipped, then her eyes widened as she recognised the sword.
"Wait, this is the sword the Ice Celestial used!"
"Hmm? Ah, Glazard. Right," Evan said, before grabbing Frostshade by the handle and pointing it toward Zaos.
"You can feel the power in this sword more than anyone here, can’t you?"
Zaos shifted his gaze from Evan to the blade, then back to Evan, an unreadable look on his face.
Finally, he replied, "Yes. I can."
Abigail, on the other hand, had a surprised expression on her face at the sight of the blade.
"Wait, this sword... was it called Frostshade or something? This is the sword Demon General McEnda IV used during the war 1000 years ago, isn’t it? How did you get your hands on it?"
"From one of the FCDs in Kreah. They stole it after Gorm and McEnda IV died," Evan replied.
Abigail stared at the weapon she had only ever seen in the memories of her predecessor, a look of admiration in her eyes at the immense power she could sense radiating from it.
She appraised it with her skill, and her eyes widened when she saw the weapon’s description, which was noticeably different from what she remembered.
"Demon Queen of Frost, Sigesi Valren?"
Snapping her gaze up to Evan, she asked, "Wait, that Vaeri demon. Wasn’t her last name Valren, too?"
Once again, Zaos wondered how his daughter knew this, but he didn’t turn to look at her since he couldn’t risk taking his eyes off the sword in front of him, wary of Evan suddenly attacking with it.
Whether he was aware of Zaos’ thoughts or not, Evan didn’t seem bothered as he answered Abigail.
"Yeah. Vaeri is Sigesi’s niece. Sigesi’s younger brother is her father."
"So Vaeri’s McEnda IV’s cousin!? Yikes!"
She immediately moved as far away from the sword as she could, then turned to her father and said, "I’m sure you already know this, Dad, but McEnda IV is the name of the Demon General that killed the former Dragon Lord.
Knowing how strong he was, there’s no reason to think his cousin would be any weaker."
Evan smiled wryly at her method of convincing her father and told Kayla to put the sword away, then acted as though he didn’t notice the relief that appeared in Zaos’s eyes as the man silently deactivated his Pseudo-Authorities.
He clapped lightly to draw the man’s attention, then said, "Vaeri’s father is a Frost Demon, and she inherited that bloodline. She may be strong with spatial magic, but her main forte is ice.
Now, you understand why I want Sir Vulwin involved, right?"
"Mhmm. Vulwin uses fire," Zaos replied, understanding Evan’s intent.
"Good. I’ll leave you to contact Sir Vulwin and discuss this, and in the meantime, I’ll go speak with Lios like I planned. He won’t sit idly by while you’re fighting the strongest Peak Rank Demon on the planet, after all.
I want him to help reduce the casualties of the Disaster when it happens."
Evan got up after speaking, and at that, Zaos finished the wine in his glass, then turned to Abigail.
"Lead him to the World Tree."
"Okay," Abigail replied calmly, before standing up. She looked at Laurene, Eliza and Leoniel, then spoke.
"Only Evan’s allowed to come with me, so Zestari will lead you to your prepared accommodation."
Looking back at Evan, she said, "Let’s go."
Like that, the group left the room, leaving behind only the Elven Emperor, who sat in silence, reflecting on everything that had just been said.
He thought back to all Kolvar had told him about Evan, and what he had personally learned, then recalled the dread he felt at the sight of Frostshade in Evan’s hands.
"There is much..." he muttered. "Much to do."
With those words, the man got up and left the room through the second door behind him, heading deeper into his palace.
