Journey to the West: Starting with the Hunting of the Three Demons of Twin Fork Ridge

Chapter 49 Yellow Wind Ridge - Part 2: Battle with the Yellow Wind Monster

Chapter 49 Yellow Wind Ridge - Part 2: Battle with the Yellow Wind Monster

Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong quickly said, "Alright, alright, stop chatting! Saving Master is the most important thing right now!"

Daoist Master, since you possess the supernatural power to stabilize the wind, then quickly come with me, Old Sun, to Yellow Wind Cave and assist me in battle!

"Bajie, you stay here and guard our horses and luggage. Don't let them run away or cause any trouble!"

At this point, he added, "Whether we can rescue our master today depends entirely on your help, Taoist priest! Once we rescue our master and subdue that Yellow Wind Monster, all the credit will go to you, Taoist priest!"

Upon hearing this, Li Fa said, "Elder Sun, there's no need to say anything more. Let's set off immediately."

Having made their decision, the two rode on a cloud and headed straight for Yellow Wind Cave.

Sun Wukong was impatient, so he urged the clouds on and soon arrived at the stone cliff.

Li Fa said, "Elder Sun, go down and challenge us. I'll stay in the sky and keep the wind at bay for you."

Sun Wukong agreed, descended from the clouds, and went straight to the Yellow Wind Cave.

But the cave entrance was tightly shut. Sun Wukong leaped up, drew his iron cudgel, and struck the entrance directly.

A loud "boom" was heard, and the mountain gate shook.

Sun Wukong shouted from outside, "Yellow Wind Monster, return my master! Otherwise, I'll trample down Yellow Wind Ridge and flatten Yellow Wind Cave!"

The little demon in the cave hurriedly reported to the Yellow Wind Monster, saying, "Your Majesty, Your Majesty! Something terrible has happened! That Monkey King is here again!"

Upon hearing this, the Yellow Wind Monster said, "What's there to be afraid of! If yesterday's gust of wind didn't kill Sun Wukong, he'll surely be dead today!"

He then summoned his men, who took the steel fork and armor, and went out of the cave again.

When the Yellow Wind Monster came out of his cave, he saw Sun Wukong looking energetic and with eyes like lightning. He was startled at first, but cursed, "You impudent monkey! I spared your life yesterday, and you still dare to come here asking for a beating today?"

"Your master, I was just about to steam him to go with my wine. You've come at the perfect time; I can catch him too, so we can have a complete meal!"

Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong flew into a rage: "You skinned beast! You stole your maternal grandfather's master and you still dare to spout such nonsense!"

"Return it quickly, kneel down and kowtow, and perhaps I'll spare your life. If you utter even a single word of dissent, I'll overturn your lair and grind every single demon in your cave to dust!"

The Yellow Wind Monster didn't answer, but raised his three-pronged steel fork and stabbed at the face.

Sun Wukong drew his staff to meet him, and the two engaged in a fierce battle in the area in front of the cave.

The golden cudgel rises like a dragon, the three-pronged fork comes like a monstrous python. One once wreaked havoc in the Heavenly Palace, displaying its might; the other now guards the mountain, rampaging with ferocity. Cudgel and fork clash with a clang, sparks fly as they strike. The demons, filled with resentment, spew yellow mist; the Great Sage, vying for supremacy, spews crimson light. The two demon immortals, neither yielding, exchange blows, displaying their sharpness.

After fifty rounds of fighting, the Yellow Wind Monster's arms became sore and numb, and he gradually found it difficult to fight back.

He spotted an opening, leaped away, and shouted sternly, "Sun Wukong! Cease your arrogance! Behold the divine power of your king!"

Having said that, he stood still, made a hand seal and chanted a spell. His abdomen throbbed like thunder, and he suddenly opened his mouth and blew at Sun Wukong.

That's their signature skill, Samadhi Divine Wind!

In an instant, a thick fog rolled in, yellow sand obscured the sun, and a fierce wind howled out, sweeping straight up Sun Wukong.

No sooner said than done.

Li Fa, who was in mid-air, had already grasped the Wind-Slaying Pestle in his hand. Seeing the yellow wind rise, he immediately silently channeled his profound power and pointed the pestle into the air.

A beam of divine light shot out and scattered in all directions.

The next second, the wind suddenly stopped, and sand and stones fell like rain, leaving only a few scattered wisps of wind whistling and swirling there.

Not to mention hurting anyone, it couldn't even budge a single hair on Sun Wukong's head.

Upon seeing this, the Yellow Wind Monster was terrified and screamed, "How...how could this be!"

The old demon still didn't believe it, so he puffed out his cheeks, gathered his energy in his dantian, and blew out several more breaths.

But how could he still exhale air?

His supernatural power vanished as soon as he spoke, and he could no longer muster any more strength.

Sun Wukong, seeing everything clearly from the other side, felt greatly relieved and scratched his head with delight: "Good monster! Did you eat scallions, garlic, or maybe chives and ginger today? Why do you smell so strongly of breath?"

Yellow Wind Monster was terrified, but said aloud, "Your grandpa just ate too much today. Let me digest a bit."

Sun Wukong chuckled: "Stop talking nonsense, take this from my old man!"

Before he finished speaking, he somersaulted forward, swung his golden cudgel in a wide arc, and used the "Mount Tai Pressing Down" technique to smash it down hard on the top of Yellow Wind Monster's head.

When the Yellow Wind Monster saw that his supernatural powers had been broken, he was terrified. When he saw Sun Wukong's staff coming, he couldn't remember any moves and could only hurriedly raise his fork to block.

With a loud clang, the Yellow Wind Monster's steel fork was bent by the Golden Cudgel.

Yellow Wind Monster's tiger's mouth burst open, his arms were in excruciating pain, and he could no longer hold on. The steel fork flew out of his hand and landed several feet away with a "clang".

Sun Wukong seized the opportunity and kicked the Yellow Wind Monster right in the heart.

The monster let out a miserable howl, spitting out blood, and flew backward, crashing heavily into the stone wall of the cave entrance, making the cliff face vibrate.

He knew he was no match for them today, and that if the fight continued, he might lose his life.

Despite the excruciating pain, the Yellow Wind Monster rolled on the ground, revealing its true form: a yellow-haired weasel.

Upon seeing this, the traveler hurriedly gave chase, only to find that the Yellow Wind Monster had stuck out its rear end and raised its tail.

The traveler felt a strange smell hit his nose, making him dizzy and disoriented. He staggered back several steps, coughing repeatedly.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, the Yellow Wind Monster darted back into the cave with a "whoosh," shouting hoarsely, "Quick! Close the door! Cover the stone pillar!"

The little demons outside the cave were already terrified out of their wits. Hearing the king's shout, they desperately pushed against the two heavy stone doors.

With a loud "rumble", the stone door closed quickly, and then a few "click" sounds were heard from inside, probably because the heavy bolts had been put down and the supporting wooden beams had been put in place.

Sun Wukong was choked by the strange smell, and his eyes streamed down his face. When he caught his breath, he found that the stone door was already tightly sealed.

Enraged, he slammed his club against the door with a loud crash, sending sparks flying and dust billowing everywhere. The stone door trembled violently, but remained completely unharmed.

From inside came the Yellow Wind Monster's voice: "Sun Wukong! You...you dare to push your luck! Let me rest for a moment, then...I'll settle things with you again! If you have the guts, try and break in!"

Sun Wukong cursed from outside the cave: "You cowardly rat! You can't beat us, so you resort to stinking and cowering back in your cave like a turtle! Your grandpa Sun will be guarding the door today, let's see how long you can hide!"

At this moment, Li Fa descended from the clouds and came to Sun Wukong's side, saying, "Elder Sun, this demon has revealed its true form; it is indeed a weasel spirit."

The final gust he released was not divine wind, but rather the foul aura of the weasel and other creatures used to save their lives.

Sun Wukong rubbed his nose and said angrily, "That fellow is truly filthy! Daoist Master, he's now locked in his cave and won't come out. This stone door is thick and difficult to break through quickly. What should we do?"

Li Fa glanced at the tightly closed cave entrance, then looked at the surrounding mountains. After a moment's thought, he said, "Elder Sun, don't be anxious. This monster is already severely injured and has lost its most relied-upon Divine Wind. It's like a turtle in a jar."

"This humble Taoist also possesses a supernatural power that can subdue demons from a thousand miles away without them even needing to knock on the door, but..."
