Chapter 152 Wuji Kingdom - Battle of Manjushri
Chapter 152 Wuji Kingdom - Battle of Manjushri
Upon hearing this, everyone was astonished!
The pilgrim took the opportunity to release everyone from the immobilization spell, and the civil and military officials began to discuss the matter.
Seeing that things were not going well, the fake queen wiped her face, revealing her true form.
She wore a five-Buddha crown and a brocade kasaya; her face was like a full moon, her eyes like blue lotuses, and she was surrounded by a thousand auspicious emanations. It was none other than Manjushri Bodhisattva!
Jinzha also revealed his true form and stood aside.
Upon seeing this, all the civil and military officials were so frightened that they knelt on the ground, calling him "Bodhisattva".
Manjushri Bodhisattva said calmly, "Tang Sanzang, you and your disciples have quite the audacity to gather demons and disrupt the politics of Wuji Kingdom?"
The pilgrim sneered, "Bodhisattva, don't try to shift the blame! You allowed your mount to kill the king, then transformed yourself into the queen and made your disciple the prince, causing someone's death. What kind of logic is this?"
Manjushri said, "Three years ago, that king immersed me, an incarnation of a mortal monk, in water for three days. This is the karmic retribution."
The pilgrim said, "Even if it is karmic retribution, it shouldn't involve my wife. Today, I, Old Sun, will demand justice from the Bodhisattva!"
Manjushri's face darkened, and he said, "Sun Wukong, don't be ungrateful. I devised this plan to capture the demonic Daoist, and after it's done, I will definitely send him back to life. Where did you find his physical body and soul?"
Before the pilgrim could speak, Li Fa appeared, standing in the hall. He bowed slightly to Manjushri Bodhisattva and said with a smile, "Bodhisattva, it's been a long time."
Upon hearing this, Manjushri looked shocked and said, "Weren't you trapped by my Dragon-Binding Stake?!"
Li Fa said, "That was my trick to escape; what you trapped was just my decoy."
Having said that, he raised his hand and beckoned, and a golden light flew in from outside the hall and landed in Li Fa's hand.
It really is a dragon-skin seven-star whip.
Manjushri then realized he had fallen into a trap.
Just then, taking advantage of everyone's unpreparedness, the Green Lion Demon suddenly revealed its true form, opened its blood-red maw, and pounced on Tang Sanzang!
The pilgrim reacted swiftly, blocking the attack with his staff and shouting, "You beast! You're courting death!"
The Green Lion Spirit was entangled by the Monkey King, but Jinzha leaped up, drew his sword, and went straight for Li Fa.
Li Fa also drew his Five Elements Spear, and the two engaged in a fierce battle inside the Golden Hall.
But we see:
A cold light flashed, stirring up a chilling killing intent. The Golden Claw Sword spat out frost flowers, each one like a shooting star; Li Fa's spear swirled with the five elements, layer upon layer like mountains.
One relied on the righteous teachings of Mount Ling, his sharp edge piercing the nine heavens; the other used the extraordinary skills of the Xuanmen, his powerful energy soaring across the Great Luo Heaven.
Swords come, spears block; spears advance, swords retreat. Here, sword light entangles the surrounding wind, there, spear shadows envelop the entire hall in thunderous roar.
After fighting for twenty rounds, Li Fa made a feint and walked away, but secretly formed the Five Thunderbolts in his palm.
Jin Zha, unaware of the trap, hurriedly went to investigate.
Arriving outside the Golden Palace, Li Fa made a hand seal and rushed towards Jin Zha, striking him on the head.
In an instant, the sky and earth changed color, and five thunderbolts struck out simultaneously. Jin Zha was unable to dodge in time and was hit hard, flying backward, his fate unknown.
Upon seeing this, Manjushri Bodhisattva's expression changed drastically, and he shouted sternly, "You evil Taoist! How dare you harm my disciple!"
Li Fa sheathed his thunderbolt, stood with his spear held horizontally, and laughed, "Bodhisattva, please calm your anger. Jin Zha wanted to kill me, but I couldn't just offer my neck to be slaughtered. Besides, he was only slightly injured, not killed. Why should you be angry, Bodhisattva?"
Manjushri snorted coldly, raised his hand, and a golden light flew out from his sleeve—it was the Dragon-Hiding Stake.
It turns out that the Bodhisattva took advantage of the battle between Jinzha and Li Fa to retrieve it.
The treasure grew taller in the wind, transforming into a golden pillar about three zhang long, with three golden rings on it, which descended upon Li Fa!
Li Fa felt a sudden tightness all over his body. By this time, the Monkey King had already subdued the Green Lion and handed it over to Pigsy and Sandy to guard.
Watching from the sidelines, he saw the Bodhisattva using her treasure and couldn't help but shout, "Bodhisattva, are you really going to act against reason?"
Manjushri glanced at him and said, "Sun Wukong, this matter is none of your concern. You protect your Tang Sanzang, and I'll deal with my demonic cultivator. If you interfere, don't blame me for being ruthless."
Just as the pilgrim was about to retort, Tang Sanzang grabbed his cassock and whispered, "Wukong, hold on. Let the Bodhisattva and the Taoist priest settle their own affairs. Don't cause any more trouble."
Upon hearing this, the traveler could only step aside.
As for Li Fa, he had also heard of this treasure. During the Investiture of the Gods, Jin Zha used this treasure to capture an enemy general.
Seeing the circle coming towards him, Li Fa didn't dare to take it head-on and quickly leaped into the air.
The Dragon-Hiding Stake missed its target, but it didn't give up and chased after them again.
Li Fa frowned, took out the Two Elements Scissors from his sleeve, and tossed them into the air.
The scissors transformed into a black and white beam of light, slicing towards the Dragon-Slaying Stake.
With a "snap," the Dragon-Hiding Stake was struck by the Yin-Yang Scissors, swayed three times, its golden light dimmed, and it fell back into Manjushri's hand.
"You wretched creature!" Manjushri roared, drawing his sword and slashing at Li Fa.
Li Fa charged forward with his spear, and the two engaged in another fierce battle in mid-air.
But behold: the sword flashed like a white snake spitting its tongue, the spear swung like a black dragon wagging its tail. One was an ancient Buddha who had attained enlightenment on Mount Wutai, the other a wandering immortal from the outer gate of the Tushita Palace. Sword and spear clashed, their cold light flashing; spear met sword, sparks flew. The battle raged until the golden palace tiles flew everywhere, and the entire court of officials fled in terror.
After fighting for more than twenty rounds, Li Fa feinted with his spear, creating an opening. Manjushri, unaware of the trap, thrust his sword forward. Li Fa dodged to the side, his spear tip flashing, striking Manjushri squarely in the left shoulder!
With a clang, like striking metal or stone, Manjushri swayed slightly. The spear tip failed to penetrate even an inch, leaving only a white dot on his robe.
Li Fa was startled: What a golden body! As expected of a Bodhisattva who has attained enlightenment, this golden body is indeed extremely solid!
His mind raced: Since the spear couldn't pierce him, he would use the technique of the primordial spirit!
He secretly made hand seals and chanted incantations, and an invisible sword intent burst forth from his body in the Niwan Palace between his eyebrows, heading straight for Manjushri's Niwan Palace!
A flying sword pierced his heart!
Manjushri, however, was prepared. He calmly took out a bronze mirror from his sleeve and looked at it.
That mirror was the Equality Mirror bestowed by the Buddha. Its surface shone brightly, reflecting the invisible sword intent back at us!
Li Fa was shocked. As he quickly dodged, the sword intent grazed past his ear and almost struck him.
so close!
Li Fa's forehead was covered in sweat as he thought to himself: This old lady was indeed well-prepared! The flying sword pierced his heart but was countered, and the spear couldn't pierce him either. What should he do?
Manjushri sneered, "You demon, what other tricks do you have up your sleeve? Today is your death day!"
Having said that, he drew his sword and charged again. Li Fa had no choice but to draw his spear and fight once more. The two fought for more than ten rounds, but neither could gain the upper hand.
Just then, a tiger's roar was heard, and the Youdu Black Tiger suddenly shot out from the side, opened its blood-red maw, and pounced on Manjushri!
"Sir, I'm here to help you!"
When Manjushri saw the tiger pounce, he remained calm and used his left hand to block Li Fa's spear with his sword, while his right hand punched the tiger.
"Bang!"
The punch landed squarely on Xuanhu's chest. Xuanhu screamed and flew backward, spitting out blood!
As luck would have it, that mouthful of blood sprayed precisely onto the Mirror of Equality, which was suspended in mid-air!
The mirror was a priceless treasure, most vulnerable to defilement. Sprayed with the essence blood of the Black Tiger, its spiritual light instantly dimmed, its surface covered in a layer of blood mist, and it could no longer reflect light.
Manjushri's expression changed drastically, and he exclaimed, "My precious one!"
Seeing this, Li Fa was overjoyed: Heaven is helping me!
Without further hesitation, his sword intent surged once more from his Niwan Palace, and an invisible flying sword burst forth, heading straight for Manjushri's Niwan Palace!
This time, the Mirror of Equality has lost its power and can no longer reflect back.
Manjushri was unable to dodge in time and was struck squarely between the eyebrows by the sword intent. He screamed in agony and fell from the clouds.
