051. Xuanzang chases after Wukong
051. Xuanzang chases after Wukong
Wait until the sky is clear and the air is fresh.
Xuanzang and his party collapsed to the ground.
They exhausted all their strength last night in order to run out of Baihu Ridge.
With the help of the Yellow Wind King, they finally managed to escape.
But the matter is not over yet.
Xuanzang leaned against the tree trunk, panting heavily.
Seeing his dejected look, Pigsy quickly showed off:
"Good sir! You've got some nerve! You've only traveled half a day, yet you've already killed three people!"
Upon hearing this, Xuanzang was overwhelmed with both old and new grudges, and immediately closed his eyes to chant a mantra.
Sun Wukong had no time to argue with Zhu Bajie and hurriedly ran to Xuanzang:
"Master! Don't miss it, don't miss it! That really is a demon."
However, there was no evidence at the time, and no one believed what Sun Wukong said.
Even the Yellow Wind King shook his head repeatedly.
Although he smelled the scent of spirits in the mountains, he did not see the faces of the monsters.
Of the six who are now on their journey to the West, only Wukong possesses the Fiery Eyes of Truth.
In this way, Xuanzang had no more reservations and immediately said:
"Monkey! What else do you want to say! A monk's good deeds are like the grass in a spring garden, which grows imperceptibly but increases daily; a person who does evil is like a whetstone, which wears imperceptibly but diminishes daily."
It also kept me up all night, as I was only focused on escaping into the mountains.
Sun Wukong knew that things wouldn't be resolved so easily today. If he didn't explain things clearly, he might really be tortured to death by the headband. So he hurriedly spoke:
"He was a lurking, malevolent zombie who bewitched and ruined the place. I killed him, and he revealed his true form. There was a line of words on his spine that read 'Lady White Bone'."
Pigsy smiled to himself.
He has finally found an opportunity; the current situation is quite clear.
Pigsy didn't want the monkey to be happy, so he started talking nonsense:
"Master, his hands are heavy and his stick is fierce; he could beat someone to death. I'm afraid that when you recite those words, he's deliberately changing his appearance to deceive you!"
Upon hearing this, Xuanzang recited the Tightening-Headband Mantra without hesitation.
Seeing the monkey writhing on the ground in pain, he finally put down the spell and said:
"You've already killed three people in this desolate wilderness. If you were in a city, a populated area, and you took that mourning stick and started beating people indiscriminately, causing a major disaster, how would I get away with it? Go back!"
If Xuanzang had kicked Sun Wukong out of the group before they arrived at Longevity Mountain, Sun Wukong would have left without hesitation.
But at this moment, Sun Wukong clearly remembered the promise Guanyin Bodhisattva had made to him, as well as that magical power.
However, he still had a bad temper, and seeing that Xuanzang was getting angry, he stepped in to argue with him.
"As the saying goes, things shouldn't happen more than three times. If I don't go, I'll be a truly despicable and shameless person. I'll go, I'll go! But you'll be all alone, so don't worry about who you have under your command."
Upon hearing this, Xuanzang was completely enraged.
Besides Sun Wukong, he also had a second disciple, Zhu Bajie.
Even if Pigsy is incompetent, at least the Yellow Wind King can protect him.
In Xuanzang's mind, the trouble Sun Wukong caused far outweighed the good he did.
Even the events at White Tiger Ridge were brought about by this monkey without any reason.
Moreover, these words truly offended everyone.
From Xuanzang and Bajie to the two servants carrying the luggage, everyone harbored resentment towards the monkey.
"This impudent monkey is becoming increasingly rude! It seems you're the only one who's human, while Wu Neng, the Great King, isn't?"
Tang Sanzang grew increasingly angry at his words and actions, and ordered Pigsy to take out paper and pen from his bundle. He then fetched water from the stream, ground ink on a stone, wrote a letter of dismissal, and handed it to Monkey, saying:
"You monkey! Take this as proof; I no longer want you as my disciple! If I ever see you again, may I fall into the deepest hell!"
The pilgrim quickly accepted the letter of dismissal and said, "Master, there's no need to swear an oath, I'm off."
Seeing that Xuanzang had become fierce, Sun Wukong had no choice but to bow down to him.
He glanced deeply at everyone around him, and seeing that the elder had tried to change his mind repeatedly but refused, he had no choice but to leave.
Now that Sun Wukong had been banished, and the pilgrimage team was missing him, Zhu Bajie's eyes darted around, and he said to the Yellow Wind King:
"Brother, that monkey left in shame, so the position of senior brother is now vacant. I wonder if you'd be interested?"
Pigsy's words were quite clear.
He wanted to test whether the Yellow Wind King was willing to become Xuanzang's disciple.
Pigsy understood everything along the way.
The Yellow Wind King probably had some unspeakable secret, which is why he never accepted Xuanzang as his disciple.
It seems unlikely that he will become the senior disciple.
Seeing Zhu Bajie ask this question, Xuanzang also cast a hopeful glance his way.
Compared to the disobedient monkey, King Yellow Wind was better in every way, except for one thing: King Yellow Wind was neither a pre-arranged disciple nor a follower from the east.
They're not one of us after all.
Xuanzang thought to himself that he was hoping that Pigsy could persuade the Yellow Wind King.
"Bajie is joking. I am not knowledgeable and capable enough, and I was not invited by the Bodhisattva. I dare not dream of becoming a disciple. Protecting the Holy Monk is my only wish."
However, the Yellow Wind King could see it clearly.
This pilgrimage team was a disorganized mess.
If I really agree to be that senior disciple, then I will be constantly watched by Pigsy, resented by Monkey, and will have to be on high alert at all times to protect this monk who is a demon every three steps and a devil every ten steps.
Although he is now mixed in with the pilgrimage team and has no proper identity, if he really arrives at Mount Ling, how could Buddha not recognize him?
Furthermore, this journey would also make it convenient for my brother Sun Qiong to exchange goods and services with him.
Who knows, it might even open up a second front.
Therefore, the position of senior brother was of no use to him, and King Huangfeng made it very clear that he refused.
Upon hearing this, Xuanzang sighed deeply and had no choice but to continue his journey westward.
Now, naturally, they must continue their journey westward; the pilgrimage to obtain Buddhist scriptures cannot be interrupted.
"Once we get past this section of the road, the monkey killing people won't be a problem anymore, right?"
Xuanzang was relieved to have driven the monkey away.
His remaining disciples and followers were not bad-tempered, so the journey to the Western Paradise became much easier.
After walking for two days along the narrow mountain paths, we finally left the territory of White Tiger Ridge and found ourselves in a place with human habitation.
"Bajie, Your Majesty, let's go to that town ahead and rest for a while."
After traveling for two days, Xuanzang was also quite tired. Now that he had finally arrived at this more peaceful place, he naturally planned to rest for a while.
Those present naturally had no reason to refuse this proposal.
Pigsy was extremely excited. Although he was still nominally the second disciple, he was actually the eldest disciple in the group.
"Master, I'll go take a look."
Pigsy said something and took the lead in walking towards the town.
It was early morning, and there weren't many people in the town, except for elderly men and women who got up early and were walking on the streets.
Pigsy did not change his appearance. To ordinary people, his appearance was naturally extremely ugly, and many old people were startled.
But Pigsy didn't care at all and just walked on the street by himself.
He hadn't been to the town for quite some time, and since there was plenty of food in such a small town, Pigsy naturally wanted to find a place to fill his stomach.
He didn't expect that he would be surrounded by a group of people shortly after entering the town.
Are you a monk?
Someone asked.
Pigsy was taken aback, and for a moment he couldn't understand what these people meant.
However, he had no reason to deny whether he was a monk or not.
Back in Gao Village, Guanyin Bodhisattva had already promised him that as long as he could protect Tang Emperor's younger brother and enter the sacred mountain, he would surely attain a position of enlightenment.
"Naturally, he's a monk."
Pigsy nodded.
These people suddenly rushed over and pushed him around.
"What are you doing? What are you doing?"
Pigsy was stunned for a moment, then twisted his body and was pushed to the ground by the crowd.
But these people persisted, pointing at Pigsy and saying:
"You must be that murderous monk from the east!"
"What murderous monk? I don't know, I don't know!"
Pigsy's heart skipped a beat; he realized that things were getting a little complicated.
"Go quickly and report to the authorities! The murderous monk has arrived! A reward of fifty taels of silver will be given for each one he catches!"
Upon hearing the voice behind him, Pigsy immediately transformed into a bird and darted out from the crowd.
"We must tell Master about this as soon as possible!"
