029. Seeking the Bodhisattva's Help
029. Seeking the Bodhisattva's Help
Pigsy pressed Sun Wukong down to the side of his two followers.
"I'm leaving my senior brother in your care."
Although he had no feelings for this pilgrimage team, the Bodhisattva had personally come to tell him about it.
Pigsy may disregard Tang Sanzang and Sun Wukong, but he cannot disregard the respect due to Bodhisattvas, Buddhas, and the Jade Emperor.
If Xuanzang really died, it wouldn't affect him much; he could simply go back to Gao Village and become a husband to a widow.
But as long as Xuanzang is alive, Zhu Bajie must do his best.
Therefore, only Zhu Bajie could go on this trip to find Bodhisattva Lingji.
With this thought in mind, Pigsy rode the clouds and flew two thousand miles due south.
What was a mere instant for Sun Wukong was a bit of a hassle for Zhu Bajie.
He wasn't very fast; if he really wanted to go to the Lingji Bodhisattva's temple, it would take at least half a night to go there and back.
But not long after Pigsy took to the air, a person suddenly flew past him.
This person was riding on clouds, wearing a kasaya, and holding Buddhist prayer beads in his hand.
This appearance clearly makes her look like a Bodhisattva.
Pigsy hurriedly stepped forward, stopped in his cloud, and bowed, saying:
"Bodhisattva, Bodhisattva! Your disciple Zhu Wuneng kowtows."
Sun Qiong smiled as she looked at Zhu Bajie in front of her.
How could this pig distinguish between truth and falsehood? This is truly seeing the image and becoming a Buddha.
He smiled and spoke gently:
"Pigsy, you didn't protect Tang Sanzang on his journey to the West to obtain the scriptures, so what business do you have with me?"
Upon seeing this, Bajie became even more devout and said, "When I was traveling with my master, we encountered the Yellow Wind Ridge, which is called the Eight Hundred Li Yellow Wind Ridge. There was a Yellow Wind King who captured my master."
It was your disciple and fellow disciples who went to his door and fought him. He turns out he can create a gust of wind; your fellow disciple was injured by it and cannot open his eyes. He sent your disciple to pray to the Bodhisattva, begging for mercy to save our master from this calamity!
Sun Qiong hesitated for a moment before speaking: "That Yellow Wind King isn't one to harm living beings; it must be that you offended him. Get up and come with me to Yellow Wind Ridge to see him. I'll ask him for a favor, apologize, and help you get your master back."
The fool nodded repeatedly, not daring to say another word.
With the Bodhisattva in front of him, Pigsy immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
Now that the Bodhisattva has been invited, the rest should be much simpler.
Sun Qiong, with Zhu Bajie in tow, flew towards Huangfeng Cave.
Before long, the two arrived at the entrance of Huangfeng Cave.
"Pigsy, you wait outside while I subdue this demon."
After Sun Qiong finished speaking, she walked towards Huangfeng Cave.
Before entering the cave, he transformed himself into a bee and burrowed into the Yellow Wind Cave.
At this moment, a commotion could be heard as soon as one entered Huangfeng Cave.
Sun Qiong flew towards the sound and saw that not far away, Xuanzang was chatting and laughing with several old people.
A large amount of delicious food was laid out around them, and Xuanzang ate while telling everyone about the beauty of the Tang Dynasty.
Judging from his tireless appearance, it seems that if he is not stopped, he could talk for three days and three nights.
Sun Qiong looked around, but couldn't find the Yellow Wind King.
Click!
There was a crisp sound.
The cave entrance slowly opened, and a yellow-haired rat walked in from outside.
He entered the cave, panting, and took a deep breath:
"Just as you said, my brother, that monkey is truly formidable."
If Sun Qiong hadn't made arrangements for him beforehand, he might have really capsized due to carelessness.
However, that monkey is at most a fighter; otherwise, there's nothing to be afraid of.
If the plan went well, Pigsy should already be on his way to invite the Bodhisattva.
Just then, Huang Fengguai suddenly heard a voice in his ear.
"Brother."
Upon hearing this sound, the Yellow Wind Monster's face lit up with joy.
He quickly looked around and asked:
"Brother, where are you?"
Sun Qiong immediately revealed his true form and came before King Huangfeng.
Upon seeing Sun Qiong, the Yellow Wind King immediately laughed:
"Brother, has your plan succeeded?"
Seeing his anxiety, Sun Qiong naturally nodded.
According to the plan, it will be time for Bodhisattva Lingji to make his appearance next.
"My dear brother, the success of this matter depends entirely on you. If anything happens in the future, I will do anything for you, even at the cost of my life."
King Yellow Wind patted his chest and guaranteed it.
Sun Qiong nodded.
Pushing things to this point is also in order to seek cooperation.
The current Yellow Wind King is the best partner he has chosen at the moment.
He probably can't go very far on this long journey to the West by himself.
"Brother, rest assured, as long as we follow the plan, we will succeed."
After Sun Qiong finished speaking, she transformed into the solemn-faced Lingji Bodhisattva.
Yellow Wind Monster laughed heartily and led Sun Qiong toward where Xuanzang was.
"Holy monk, look!"
The Yellow Wind Monster strode up to Xuanzang and said loudly.
Xuanzang was taken aback, then turned his head blankly to look at Sun Qiong.
"Tang Sanzang, I am Lingji Bodhisattva of Mount Ling in the Western Paradise, and I have come to rescue you."
Xuanzang was stunned for a moment upon seeing the Bodhisattva before him. He quickly stood up and bowed to Sun Qiong.
"I was unaware of the Bodhisattva's arrival and have failed to greet you properly."
The Bodhisattva smiled and said to Xuanzang:
"Holy monk, there is no need for excessive formalities. The journey to the west is long and arduous. Only by traversing countless mountains and rivers and enduring eighty-one tribulations can one reach the sacred mountain, meet the Buddha, and obtain the true scriptures."
Upon hearing this, Xuanzang immediately nodded:
"This disciple is devoted to paying homage and dares not be negligent."
"However, the obstacles along the way are difficult to overcome, and the future is uncertain. Only a capable disciple can resolve the calamities."
As the Bodhisattva spoke, he pointed to the Yellow Wind Monster standing to the side.
"This Yellow Wind Ridge is both a calamity and a destiny. This monster was transformed from a yellow-haired rat at the foot of the Buddha in the Western Paradise. It stole the pure oil from the glass lamp and fled from the Western Paradise, and here it established itself as the Demon King."
I received the Buddha's decree to subdue the Yellow Wind Monster here. The Buddha bestowed upon me a Wind-Fixing Pill and a Flying Dragon Staff. I captured him then, spared his life, and let him go into seclusion in the mountains.
Although he defeated Wukong and Wuneng, he remained devoted to Buddhism.
"Chen Xuanzang, if you don't mind, let him be your attendant and escort you all the way to Mount Ling."
Xuanzang was greatly alarmed and looked up at the Yellow Wind Monster.
Then the Yellow Wind Monster revealed its true form: a yellow-haired weasel the size of a calf, which quietly bowed before it.
They look quite well-behaved.
Xuanzang's heart skipped a beat.
Yellow Wind Monster is a capable man who can defeat Wukong. He is also from Mount Ling, has a strong affinity with Buddhism, and is even familiar with his past life.
Such a monster, if kept by one's side, would surely be able to suppress Wukong.
Most importantly, he will be the only demon in the pilgrimage team who has no hostility towards Tang Sanzang!
Upon thinking this, Xuanzang immediately bowed:
"Your Majesty is too kind. This humble monk has relied on Your Majesty's protection on my journey westward."
From then on, everyone was happy.
Sun Qiong gave the Yellow Wind King a deep look and said to the two of them, "Since that's the case, I should report this matter to the Buddha. I'll take my leave first."
Having said that, the Bodhisattva vanished before their eyes.
King Yellow Wind then led Xuanzang out to meet Pigsy.
With Xuanzang mediating and the yellow-haired weasel's abilities, even if Wukong had a lot of complaints, he could only suppress them and grit his teeth and bear it.
But with the Yellow Wind Monster backing him up, would Xuanzang really still obey Sun Wukong's instructions as before?
Pigsy, who's acting as the troublemaker inside, will only get more and more agitated, as you can imagine.
This pilgrimage team is getting better and better.
At this moment, Sun Qiong would not actually go to Mount Ling to tell Buddha about this.
The place he turned and went was the deepest prison where Bodhisattva Lingji was imprisoned.
Lingji Bodhisattva, trapped by the Dragon-Hiding Stake, radiated a soft glow.
Clearly, this Bodhisattva was also trying to find a way to break free from this magical artifact.
If given more time, he might actually succeed.
"Bodhisattva Lingji, this is the last time. I hope you can tell me how to remove this golden headband."
The wounds on Lingji Bodhisattva's face had mostly healed. He looked at the Six-Eared Macaque before him and laughed out loud:
"You inner demon, why bother talking here? Even if you knew, I wouldn't tell you. A monkey who won't live long can't even break through my defensive robe. I only need to recite the Tightening Spell here, and you will die."
"Yes, if I can't break through your defensive robes, then I'll refine them into dust along with the robes."
As soon as Sun Qiong opened her mouth, flames surged forth, instantly engulfing the entire prison.
The next moment, a terrified scream came from within the flames:
"This...this is the Six Ding Divine Fire! How could a mere inner demon possess such a thing? Could it be related to Laozi?"
Sun Qiong could not answer. At this moment, he was using all his magical power to support the Six Ding Divine Fire, which was powerful enough to burn everything.
Amidst the raging flames, only a faint glimmer of Buddha's light flickered slowly amidst the screams.
"Stop! I'll take you to find the Bodhisattva, I'll take you to find the Buddha!"
However, he didn't know that Sun Qiong at the moment only had the ability to start fires, but not the ability to put them out.
When he made his decision, Lingji Bodhisattva was destined to die there.
The Buddha's light eventually merged into the fire.
The fire raged for a long time, burning everything in the 800-li Huangfengling area to ashes, leaving nothing behind.
