013. The Burning of the Zen Temple
013. The Burning of the Zen Temple
The burden was lifted, and the first rays of dawn shone forth.
When the paper was removed and the paper was unfolded, the room was filled with red light and the courtyard was filled with colorful energy.
Everyone who saw it was delighted and full of praise.
"What a fine robe!"
Guangmou quickly stepped forward and took the robe, examining it closely in his hands before saying with satisfaction:
"Let me show this robe to the old abbot. Please wait a moment, all four of you."
"Go away, go away."
Wukong said confidently.
In his view, no matter what kind of monsters were in this Guanyin Temple, none of them could possibly be his match.
The demon that has taken over the old abbot's body will surely come out to see this cassock.
He'll smash it over the head with a stick, and while he's at it, he can also smash the entire Guanyin Temple.
With this thought in mind, Sun Wukong suddenly understood and waited for the monster to walk right into his trap.
Soon, Guangmou came out with a beaming smile and said to the four pilgrims:
"Four of you, Your Excellency invites you in."
Before he finished speaking, Sun Wukong's expression changed drastically.
"Hey! Where do you think you're going, you monster!"
Sun Wukong pulled out his golden cudgel, rushed into the back room, and swung it hard, smashing it down.
The next moment, a plume of black smoke burst open the window and stumbled away hurriedly towards the south.
The monster actually ran away?
Looking again at the bedside, lying on the ground was the old master of the courtyard.
"Father-in-law!"
Guangmou caught up and was immediately terrified.
He pointed at Wukong, who was holding an iron rod, and embraced the old abbot's corpse, angrily rebuking him:
Why did you kill him?
Xuanzang, who followed behind, was also greatly alarmed upon seeing this.
He knew the monkey's temperament and knew that the monkey would, as he had said, kill the old abbot with a single blow.
But killing someone in full view of everyone still terrified Xuanzang.
He grabbed the monkey, his voice trembling with tears:
"Wukong, if we have the means to revive this old abbot, it would be a life-saving act, better than building a seven-story pagoda. It would be far better than worshipping Buddha at Mount Ling."
Distracted by Xuanzang, Sun Wukong could only grit his teeth and say:
"This is simple. We just need to bring that spirit back and heal it."
Saving people is easy; for Wukong, it's just a matter of a moment.
Especially since the old abbot's body had been possessed by someone, and his soul had left his body less than three days ago.
When a person dies, they live for three to five weeks, or for seven weeks, to fulfill their sins in the mortal world before being reborn.
With a single wave of his hand, Wukong drew the soul of the old academy master, who had been hiding nearby, to him.
Amidst the gasps of the crowd, the old abbot's lifeless face gradually regained its color.
"Wukong, where is my cassock?"
But before Xuanzang could rejoice, he noticed that the brocade cassock was gone.
"It's probably been stolen by that monster. I'll go and bring the robe back right away."
Seeing this, Wukong stopped and picked up his iron cudgel, riding a cloud to chase after them to the south.
At this moment, on Black Wind Mountain, the Black Bear Spirit and the snake and wolf demons dressed as Taoist priests had just finished their sermon and were about to take a breather and rest for a while.
Then he saw a monkey jump down from the sky and hit him on the head with a stick.
The Black Wind Monster was terrified and quickly raised his black-tasseled spear.
But it was too late. The monkey moved extremely fast, and the stick in its hand weighed another 13,500 jin.
He descended from the sky with all his might, and this time the blow landed directly on the Black Wind Monster's shoulder.
With a cracking sound, half of the Black Wind Monster's face was stomped off.
"what!"
The Black Wind Monster let out a miserable scream and collapsed to the ground, unable to speak.
Only the monkey's figure disappeared from his sight.
Completely bewildered, the Black Wind Monster simply pressed half of his face and curled up on the ground in agony.
The surrounding demons quickly gathered around and hurriedly carried the Black Wind Monster into the Black Wind Cave.
"A disaster that came out of nowhere! A disaster that came out of nowhere!"
Black Wind Monster was resentful, having no idea what kind of monster the monkey that fell from the sky was, that it had smashed half of his body with a single blow.
Fortunately, as a bear demon, Black Wind Monster's physical strength is extremely high, and he can recover from this injury in a few months.
"Next time I catch that monkey, I'll skin him alive, tear him apart, and smash him to pieces."
Filled with resentment, the Black Wind Monster could only collapse onto the couch, sighing and lamenting.
Just then, an angry shout rang out:
"You monkey, how dare you attack my immortal cave?"
"You damned beast, what kind of place is this, daring to call yourself a celestial cave! Go in and tell your Black King to quickly bring out my cassock, and I'll spare your lives!"
The little demon rushed inside and reported:
"Your Majesty! That monkey is here again."
Deceiving too much!
Upon hearing this, the Black Wind Monster flew into a rage.
Having been beaten up for no reason, and now being knocked on the door, the Black Bear Demon instantly exploded.
He picked up the black-tasseled spear that had been bent by a blow, and, supported by several lesser demons, walked towards the gate.
When Wukong saw the Black Bear Demon come out, he was startled.
This monster looks disfigured; just standing there, it's even more terrifying than Ox-Head and Horse-Face.
"Your grandfather's blow with that stick actually caused you to look like this?"
Sun Wukong scratched his head, also not expecting this to happen.
However, he had killed enough monsters to form a mountain, so he didn't care about the appearance of this black bear spirit. He just spoke in a vicious tone.
"Damn monkey, you've gone too far!"
The black bear spirit let out a whimpering sound, and the little monster following behind quickly began to translate.
"Stop gossiping! Quickly return your grandfather's robe!"
Sun Wukong, wielding his iron cudgel, charged forward and roared.
The black bear spirit raised its black-tasseled spear and let out a strange, whistling cry.
The little monster quickly added:
"Which temple are you a monk from? Where did you lose your robe? Do you dare come here to ask for it back?"
When Wukong heard someone asking about his origins, he immediately perked up.
Straighten his back and laugh heartily:
"My son, stand firm and listen carefully. I have possessed extraordinary abilities since childhood, adapting to circumstances with heroic prowess... I am the leader before Flower Fruit Mountain, and gather hordes of demons in the Water Curtain Cave... Go and ask around the world, I am the most renowned demon of all time!"
Upon hearing this, the monster chuckled, rubbing the wound on its face.
The little demon behind him added, "So you were the stable boy who caused havoc in Heaven."
As soon as he finished speaking, Sun Wukong flew into a rage, his monkey face practically on fire, and he swung his staff and began to strike.
The burly man, armed with a long spear, was furious at being beaten up for no reason and immediately stepped forward to fight.
After only a few rounds, the traveler gained the upper hand, wielding his iron rod with impenetrable skill.
The black-clad man was already injured, and seeing Wukong's ferocity, he had no choice but to retreat step by step.
Seeing this, the monkey slowed its attack and started playing.
After all, he had been imprisoned under the Five Elements Mountain for over five hundred years. Now that he had finally met someone who could fight, he would fight for as long as he could.
The Black Bear Spirit decided to retreat back to Black Wind Cave to reconsider his actions before confronting the monkey.
However, at that moment, the cave door behind them slammed shut with a loud bang.
With no way out, the outcome of this battle was clear.
The black bear spirit held out for most of the day, but eventually couldn't take it anymore. The monkey smashed its head with a stick, killing it instantly.
As for the lesser demons in the cave, Wukong wiped them all out with a single roll of his golden cudgel.
When he came out of the cave, he was holding a kasaya in his hands.
"The old monk does have one good thing."
Wukong chuckled and stepped onto his somersault cloud, disappearing into the horizon.
After he left, another monkey emerged from the nearby woods; it was Sun Qiong.
Sun Qiong clutched her arm, her face covered in cold sweat.
To make the performance realistic, he actually used his own body to take a blow from Sun Wukong's staff.
As it turns out, without an indestructible body, not just anyone can withstand 13,500 pounds.
Even if he were a naturally born stone monkey, this sudden blow would make half of his body numb.
However, Sun Qiong didn't care about that at the moment. He pulled something out of his pocket, shook it gently, and instantly, dragon whiskers covered the top and bottom with colorful silk, and the four sides of the robe were edged with brocade.
"It's definitely a good item."
Sun Qiong chuckled softly.
"By having Wukong personally kill the Black Bear Demon, the Bodhisattva lost a guardian deity of the mountain."
"By replacing Tang Sanzang's real cassock with a fake one, even if they reach the Western Paradise in the future, they will still be wearing a fake cassock."
Sun Qiong couldn't help but laugh when she saw the Buddha and Bodhisattva's inner turmoil upon seeing Tang Sanzang wearing a fake cassock and paying their respects.
But Sun Qiong didn't rush to leave. Instead, she found a mountaintop and sat down cross-legged.
"My mission is almost complete. This ordeal should end here. Next, it's time for that second senior brother."
