Chapter 452 Temporary Worker Resigns
Chapter 452 Temporary Worker Resigns
The half-eye hovered before the seventh eye's disfigured face, the silver light from the old wound at the corner of the eye being supported by the shore fire. It should have returned to Ah Sui's soul along the white paper lamp and the small box, but instead it turned towards the blood-stained note on Mo Chengyue's right palm.
Manager Hu's hand, which was originally pressing down on the box lid, stopped in mid-air. His fingertips had already touched the edge of the wooden box, but he abruptly pulled it back.
"What is it watching you do?"
Mo Chengyue stared at the red pattern on his palm, and pressed the Rain Flower Sword further into the threshold with his left hand.
"You've taken the wrong turn."
Manager Hu's face turned pale, but he didn't dare to turn around and look at the seventh person.
"Can the eyes be mistaken?"
"If it's been used by someone else for twenty years, the road will be dirty, and it's not surprising to mistake the door for the right one."
The seventh disfigured face had a hole in it, and wet, black water dripped down from the edge of the hole, yet she was laughing so hard she was shaking.
"Sister, did you hear that? It doesn't recognize the box, and it doesn't recognize you either."
Shopkeeper Hu pulled the white paper lantern tightly to his chest, keeping the flame close to the Soul-Sealing Box, preventing the light from falling to his feet.
"Ah Sui, let's go back to shore."
He didn't move an inch.
Yu Lin Hong's lingering regret rose from the blood-stained inscription in Mo Cheng Yue's palm. The crimson color circled around the broken strokes of the ink characters, and the sound echoed from the black water of the unlit ship.
"Mo Chengyue, you saved her soul, cut out her eyes, investigated her accounts, and now you even have to use your letter to fix her eyes. You're quite busy and thorough."
Mo Chengyue smeared the blood from the tiger's mouth of his left hand into the talisman ash, and the golden array feet lit up again with the sound of the pot.
"Don't rush to praise me, I'm prone to getting proud."
Yu Linhong chuckled softly.
"These are the dowry eyes."
Shopkeeper Hu pulled the silver hairpin back a little, and the tip of the hairpin broke off below the seventh eye. The broken thread immediately bubbled up with wet red bubbles in the black water.
"What dowry eyes?"
Mo Chengyue didn't look at her, but stared at the increasingly thin red light between the half-eye and his right palm.
"The wedding boat postcard was missing an eye, so it used Ah Sui's eye as a patch."
Manager Hu bit his lip, forcing the words out through his teeth.
"Then it will be swallowed?"
"meeting."
The seventh eye's damp, cold voice echoed from the bottom of the wrecked ship.
"It's good that she swallowed it. Once she's in the blood oath, she can still get on the ship with him. Sister, weren't you most afraid that she'd have nowhere to go?"
Shopkeeper Hu looked down at the small box. The old silver light inside the Soul-Sealing Talisman was pulled outward by half an eye. Ah Sui's soul light gently bumped against the wall inside the box, but could not make a complete sound.
"Ah Sui, listen to your sister, don't go to him."
Mo Chengyue immediately spoke.
"Don't talk about him."
Manager Hu's voice faltered, and he immediately changed his words.
"Ah Sui, go back to the lamp."
The silver light in his half-eyes flickered, but was pulled back by the blood-stained red patterns.
Yu Lin Hong's lingering regrets flowed downstream along the ink characters, and the strokes of the name continuation below the red pattern, which had previously been suppressed by the lampless ship, began to heat up.
"She doesn't recognize you, she recognizes your post."
Mo Chengyue looked at Manager Hu.
"Give me the box."
Shopkeeper Hu tucked the small box tightly into his bosom.
"no."
"It's not robbery."
"no."
"Manager Hu."
"Your right hand is already being bitten by the sticker. If I give you the small box, Ah Sui will be even closer."
Mo Chengyue raised the Rain Flower Sword with his left hand. The talisman ash under the sword was soaked by the black water. He used the spine of the sword to block a stream of black water that was crawling toward Manager Hu's shadow.
"Then let's turn it around."
Manager Hu looked up.
"How do we oppose it?"
Mo Chengyue flipped his left hand and flicked the ashes of the soul-protecting talisman sealed in his sleeve to the edge of the small box. He didn't touch the talisman's core, but only let the ashes wrap around the opening of the box.
"I'll quote the post, you take the look."
Manager Hu's face turned even uglier.
"What post are you quoting?"
"Isn't it supposed to be a dowry eye? I'll let it eat the blood of the main owner first."
Yu Lin Hong's laughter overflowed from the blood-stained invitation.
"The original bloodline? You're quick to admit it."
Mo Chengyue looked at the red pattern on his palm. His right hand was hanging outside the threshold by the black water, and his fingertips were almost touching the shadow of the bottom of the ship without lights.
"Acknowledging temporary worker status will not affect my resignation."
Shopkeeper Hu's eyes were still red, and he didn't respond to what she said, but simply put the silver hairpin back between his fingers.
"What am I supposed to do?"
"Kneel down beside the ashes and fire."
"Will I be forced to board the ship?"
"Old Zhou has changed the third fire to a fire for keeping people warm. Don't let it touch water, don't let the light shine on your feet, and kneel on the dry earth."
Manager Hu looked towards the door.
The pot was still clattering on the shore. The third ordinary fire burned in the dry ashes of the pot, its flame flickering crookedly amidst the red mist and black water, yet it never went out.
"I'm close to the threshold, so my shadow gets dragged."
"Keep the lamp on the box, don't shine it on the ground, and cover your feet with your sleeves."
What if I look at you with only half an eye?
"Call me by my childhood nickname."
Shopkeeper Hu held the small box tightly with his fingers.
"It wasn't listening."
Mo Chengyue placed the Yuhua Sword across the threshold and traced a line of blood-red ash on the back of the sword with his left index finger.
"It was looking at the familiar path just now, now I'm tearing the familiar path apart to show it the pain."
Black mud seeped out of the seventh hollow eye.
"You dare tear this up?"
Mo Chengyue glanced at her.
"You only have half a face left, and you're still worried about my workplace injury?"
The seventh eye's distorted face twisted, and the thin thread beneath the red wedding dress snapped towards the half-eye.
Manager Hu sliced through the silver hairpin, the old silver fumes rubbing against the thread roots, causing a hot, red film to form.
"Don't touch her."
The seventh eye has been changed back to a soft, girlish tone.
"Sister, you're protecting her eyes, but if her eyes hurt, hers hurts too."
Shopkeeper Hu pressed the small box against his chest, shielding the lamp with his shoulder, his voice hoarse and strained.
"Ah Sui, let's go back to shore."
Mo Chengyue suddenly reached out his left hand in front of Manager Hu.
"Throw the box to yourself, don't cling to it."
Manager Hu didn't understand.
What does "throwing it on myself" mean?
"Keep it a hand's width away from your heart, with the lamp behind and the box in front. When you kneel down, support it with your sleeve, and don't touch it with your bloody hands."
Shopkeeper Hu looked down and saw that his old wound was bleeding again, so he immediately hid his hand in his sleeve.
"What if I can't hold them up?"
"If you can't hold it up, bite the corner of your sleeve with your teeth."
"You really know how to arrange people."
"The living are easier to take care of than the dead."
Shopkeeper Hu didn't argue anymore. She tucked the white paper lantern under her arm, spread her sleeves, and held the Soul-Sealing Box with a clean cloth, moving it slightly away from her chest. The old silver light peeked out from the edge of the box, forming a dim white line with the third pot ash fire on the shore.
Mo Chengyue aimed at the line, then thrust the Rain Flower Sword into the threshold with his left hand. The sword stabilized the threshold with the help of the golden arc of light, and then he raised his hand to grab his right wrist.
Yu Lin Hong's lingering resentment immediately clung to his palm.
"What are you going to do?"
Mo Chengyue looked down at the blood-written note.
"I'll make you work overtime."
The ink characters on his right palm were wiped away with the blood and ash from his left hand, and the crooked red pattern of the continuation name was scratched open. Red light surged out along the wound, and the wedding invitation was stimulated by the blood energy. The suction force immediately shifted from the half-eye area to Mo Chengyue's palm.
Half of his eye swayed in the air, and a thin line of red fluid, still clinging to the old wound at the corner of his eye, was drawn out, about to be swallowed by the blood ointment.
Shopkeeper Hu knelt down beside the ashes and fire, the dry soil beneath her knees becoming damp from the water bubbles, yet she did not let the white paper lantern fall.
"Ah Sui, let's go back to shore."
Half of his eyes still leaned towards Mo Chengyue.
Mo Chengyue gripped his right wrist with his left hand, pressing his fingertips into the brightest part of the blood patch. The lightning ash was forced out from the previous wound, and tiny lightning marks wandered within the red patterns. The suction of the blood patch was disrupted by the heat.
"Shout again."
Manager Hu lowered his head and approached the box lid.
"Ah Sui, the lamp is on the shore, my sister is on the shore, and the ashes and fire are also on the shore."
The old silver light inside the small box shone, and a bit of white light emerged from the edge of the soul-sealing talisman, as if someone had raised their hand from inside in response.
The silver light in his eyes turned back a little.
The seventh eye screamed and lunged at the half-eye, from which several thin, wet red lines emerged.
"return!"
Mo Chengyue didn't look at her. He just slammed the hilt of the Rain Flower Sword backward, causing the sword to shake up talisman ash. The ash threads flew to the front of the seventh eye's disfigured face, blocking the few thin threads from half of the eye.
Manager Hu shielded the lamp with his shoulder, not daring to ask any questions, only calling out repeatedly.
"Ah Sui, let's go back to shore."
"Ah Sui, the light is here."
"Ah Sui, she doesn't recognize the letter, she doesn't recognize the boat, she only recognizes the shore."
Yu Lin Hong's lingering regret pressed against Mo Cheng Yue's palm, but her smile turned cold.
"The more people you save, the heavier the debt becomes. Sooner or later, this debt will weigh you down and drown you."
