Chapter 330: A Bet
Chapter 330: A Bet
Han Che swallowed hard, his Adam's apple bobbing, trying to calm himself down.
"Where did you get this?"
Seeing Han Che's expression, Raven smiled even more broadly.
It was as if a prank had succeeded; that wicked smile made Han Che very uncomfortable.
"Well... I just got it a while ago."
"That was the day I bet you we'd have to duel with rifles, and I accidentally beat you."
"That was the first time I beat you, Han Che." Qi Yuzhe's tone softened.
He gently placed the badge on the table, then completely ignored the pistol Han Che was holding and began to walk around the desk on his own.
"Really..." Han Che muttered to himself.
Even through the mask, Raven could see Han Che's surprise. Seeing his expression, Raven's eyes flickered slightly, then the corners of his eyes drooped down, as if he had made up his mind.
"Han Che!" Then, as if by magic, Raven's other hand grabbed something out of thin air and held it out in front of Han Che.
"The first time we met, you were the one who brought me back to life, so I want to take a gamble on you."
Han Che raised his head and looked directly into Raven's eyes again. This time, he saw a different expression.
Qi Yuzhe slowly opened his palm, revealing another badge of a completely different design lying in his hand.
"Nice to meet you, my name is Qi Yuzhe."
Qi Yuzhe stood in front of the desk, his gaze lifting from the two badges and landing on Han Che's face.
"And you? Is your real name Han Che?"
Han Che looked up at him, his gaze lingering on Qi Yuzhe's face for two seconds. "You... what nonsense are you talking about? My name is Geheros!"
Qi Yuzhe didn't respond to his words. He straightened up and slowly paced back and forth in front of his desk.
"Han Che, I've long suspected you're like me, but I don't have any concrete evidence." He didn't look at Han Che as he spoke; his gaze was fixed on a spot on the wall.
"You are the warden, and I am your most troublesome prisoner. We are on the same map, but we belong to different factions."
"Logically, you should be eager to kill me."
"But you didn't. You resurrected me, gave me a way out, and even took the initiative to cooperate with me. My first reaction was that this warden must be up to something."
Han Che stared at him silently, never putting down the pistol in his hand.
"It's unbelievable that the warden would extend an olive branch to a prisoner."
"I thought you were definitely plotting something against me, so I've always been on guard against you."
"During that time, you stayed in the Tide Prison every day, and I waited every day, waiting for you to make a mistake."
"I've considered many possibilities. If I agree to cooperate with you, what if you stab me in the back during the cooperation? What if you use me as cannon fodder to test the waters? What if you eliminate me completely in some way I don't know about?"
"I considered every possibility and made corresponding preparations." Qi Yuzhe stopped and turned to face Han Che. "I thought I was given the kind of script where we'd be locked in a life-or-death struggle."
Qi Yuzhe chuckled self-deprecatingly and continued, "I finally waited for you to leave Tide Prison and finally had a chance to make my move, but my prisoner corps was almost wiped out by your Thunder Guards."
"That's a completely different level of combat power compared to the first time..."
"Then why did you finally agree to cooperate with me?" Han Che's voice came coldly from behind the desk.
Qi Yuzhe's self-deprecating smile faded, and his gaze became more serious. "Because I realized something. The day I arrived at Tide Prison, I immediately encountered players and could only fight on instinct."
"I beat the first team, and before I could even catch my breath, the second team arrived. I thought I was doomed; I was just here for a day trip."
Qi Yuzhe gave a wry smile. He looked up and glanced around at the walls before his gaze finally settled on Han Che. "I never thought I'd actually survive. Thanks to you, this is where I woke up again."
"The situation back then is very similar to now; I'm at my desk, and you're sitting behind it."
"That day was the first time we met. My men and I killed a lot of prison guards, and you actually saved my life."
"Maybe I should take a gamble and trust you this once."
After Qi Yuzhe finished speaking, the office fell silent again.
"How about it? Want to try trusting me this time?"
Han Che remained silent for a while, looking at the two badges lying quietly in the center of the desk under the light.
Slowly, Han Che placed the pistol he was holding onto the desk next to him.
Then, he raised his hand and covered the mask, his fingertips gripping the edge of the mask as he slowly removed it. The white mask was flipped over and placed next to the pistol, making a slight clinking sound.
"Han Che is my real name."
Han Che's voice was deep. He then reached into his trench coat pocket and took out the two badges from his system space.
"I have this too."
Han Che placed his two badges on the desk, gently pushed them to the center of the desk, placing them side by side with Qi Yuzhe's badge.
Qi Yuzhe walked over, picked up the badge on the table, and compared it with his own.
They are exactly the same in terms of material, size, and workmanship; only the patterns on them are different.
Qi Yuzhe's shoulders visibly relaxed.
He exhaled, and his entire body slumped down from his chest to his shoulders, as if a heavy stone that he had been carrying for a long time had finally been lifted off his shoulders.
"Holy shit," he said, "that scared me to death."
Han Che frowned. "Were you faking your commanding presence just now?"
Qi Yuzhe grinned again, his smile returning to the kind Han Che was familiar with. "What can I do if I don't pretend? You won't budge, so I have no choice but to bite the bullet and keep up the act!"
"You have no idea my legs were shaking a little just now, but luckily the table was blocking your view."
Han Che shook his head. His expression did not completely relax because of Qi Yuzhe's relaxation; his brows were still slightly furrowed.
He now knew that Raven might have similarities to himself, but when he actually saw those two badges that resembled his own and heard Qi Yuzhe admit those things, his feelings were still very complicated.
Because he was not yet fully certain of all the other party's intentions and purposes.
Qi Yuzhe clearly saw Han Che's concerns and suggested, "How about this, we each take turns asking one question to quickly clarify the situation!"
Han Che raised an eyebrow; perhaps this was a good idea.
