Chapter 279 Pretending to be Confused
Chapter 279 Pretending to be Confused
"Uh, Your Excellency Warden? Did you hear me, Warden?"
Raven muttered to itself, but all it got in return was Han Che and Shi Ding talking nonchalantly.
After calling out several times without receiving any response, the raven's smiling face instantly fell.
"Gheros!" the raven roared.
He could no longer bear the feeling of being ignored, and his right hand shot forward with lightning speed.
He suddenly picked up a training QBZ rifle that he had been holding, the dark muzzle arcing under the light as it was aimed directly at Han Che behind the desk.
Upon seeing this, Shi Ding, the captain of the personal guard standing to the side, changed his expression drastically. His thick eyebrows furrowed sharply, and he raised the heavy riot shield behind him to block Han Che.
Han Che remained unusually calm, raising his hand to stop him, "It's alright, Shi Ding."
Upon hearing the command, Shi Ding froze in mid-air, but his eyes remained alert as he gripped his shield and stood beside Han Che, watching Raven's movements.
Han Che slowly turned his head, his dark eyes fixed on the gun barrel less than a meter away from him, and asked calmly, "What are you doing? Rebelling?"
"Stop talking nonsense! Gerheros, stop pretending to be deaf and dumb with me!" Raven shouted, pointing his gun and straining his neck.
"Didn't we agree on this before?! As long as I master this crappy rifle, when you come back from the player world this time, you'll take me to see the outside world!"
"Now that you're back, what are you pretending to be confused about?!"
Han Che slowly stood up from his chair. With his hands in his trench coat pockets, he calmly walked towards Raven, facing the dark muzzle of the gun.
Finally, Han Che stopped just centimeters from the muzzle of the gun: "I did promise you. But there's a condition: you have to practice with the rifle."
"I've only just entered the door, how am I supposed to know how well you've been practicing these past few days? I can't just believe you based on what you say."
Raven stiffened its neck and snorted smugly, "Of course I'm good! 100% accuracy! I could smash those targets to pieces with my eyes closed! Shi Ding and the three Lin brothers were watching the whole time, you can ask them if you don't believe me!"
"So you're the shooting range god, huh? What good is a high hit rate if you can kill the target?" Han Che sneered disdainfully.
He extended a finger and casually placed it on the barrel of Raven's rifle, pressing it down slightly to push the muzzle down from his chest.
As he paced back and forth, he said, "What if the fighting starts outside and they discover the enemy is moving? Won't you be blown up?"
"You really think I'm a kid? Do you think I'm some kind of Trojan Horse Hammer Soldier?" Raven laughed angrily. When he used his two revolvers, no one dared to question his marksmanship.
It's all the Trojan horse's fault! It ruined my reputation!
Raven gritted his teeth, his fingers twitching the trigger several times, but to no avail.
The inability to fire weapons while the prison is closed still applies, regardless of the weapon.
Han Che had clearly figured this out, which is why he dared to tease him so recklessly.
"Seeing how defiant you are, I'll give you a proper chance to prove yourself."
Han Che held up two fingers and waved them in front of the raven. "The Tide Prison portal will reopen to the public in two days."
"Once the passage opens, you and I will fight in the core area of the prison. If you can beat me in a one-on-one fight, I will definitely keep my word and take you out with me the next time I return to the player world."
"And I won't bully you. When we fight one-on-one, we'll both use the same level 5 armor and the same QBZ rifle you have. How about it? You got the job?"
Upon hearing this condition, the raven's previously somewhat agitated eyes widened instantly. "Hmph! Let's fight! Who's afraid of who!"
Raven jerked the bolt of his rifle, producing a crisp metallic clang.
He looked at Han Che with a hint of defiance, a grin spreading to his ears, and added with a cold snort, "Geheros, you said it yourself!"
"It's settled then, it'll be a one-on-one duel. You're not allowed to cheat. You'll bring your shield bearers and the prison guards outside to help hold the line of fire. It'll just be the two of us, head-on, one-on-one!"
"Don't worry, I can't afford to lose face like that." Han Che curled his lip and waved his hand casually. "OK, it's a deal. Now, go back to your cell and continue practicing your marksmanship. Don't waste my time talking to Shi Ding about serious business."
"It's a deal! You better wash your neck clean and wait! Hahaha!" Raven got a satisfactory answer and jumped up on the spot with excitement.
He chuckled a few times, slung the rifle over his shoulder, and turned around with a scurrying gait. He didn't even bother to close the iron door to the office, and ran back to practice shooting like a gust of wind down the corridor. His sharp laughter could be heard clearly even several corridors away.
Han Che watched his departing figure, shook his head helplessly, and gave a bitter smile.
I remember the time Raven fought me one-on-one before, and I won. I wonder if he has improved this time.
"Alright, stop looking at that madman. Shi Ding, close the door, let's continue our conversation." Han Che sat back down behind his desk, his smile fading.
Time flies, and two days have passed in the blink of an eye.
Raven hasn't bothered Han Che these past two days. Shi Ding said that Raven has been practicing shooting at the shooting range recently.
"Your Excellency Warden, Raven's training results at the shooting range..." Shi Ding only got halfway through his sentence.
"Hmm?" Han Che raised an eyebrow, putting down the documents in his hand. "What about the grades? Why didn't you finish?"
"Your Excellency Warden, forgive my bluntness, but I think we may need to be cautious about the operation against Raven; his results are ridiculously good," Shi Ding said, bowing slightly.
"Hey, you don't need to be like this. I've told you so many times, there's no need to be so polite with me." Han Che helped Shi Ding up. "Why do you say that?"
"He really wasn't bragging; his accuracy at the shooting range was indeed close to 100%, and his headshot rate was extremely high."
"Most importantly, he often uses dynamic shooting techniques, including but not limited to diving, rolling, and sliding tackles..."
"That's very similar to your style," Shi Ding added.
Han Che nodded. This was all normal. Raven was a boss that could kill players in a single shot. If he didn't have that kind of accuracy, Han Che wouldn't have gone to such lengths to recruit him.
"Okay, I understand." Han Che nodded in agreement.
That's definitely something to look forward to, considering Raven's current strength!
