Chapter 249 Cannot Float
Chapter 249 Cannot Float
"Damn it, why are you so reckless? You don't have to be so eager to save me. Isn't this bulletproof glass? Can you break it with your hand?" That was the first thing Raven said as soon as she came in.
"I wanted to punch you, but I didn't expect the glass to be so hard," Han Che said, pursing his lips.
Raven's expression froze for a moment, then she pointed at Han Che and said, "Beat me up? So you weren't trying to rescue me just now!"
"What's wrong with you? Why are you in such a bad state?" Raven observed Han Che's complexion and, combined with his behavior just now, realized that something was wrong with Han Che at that time, so he used his whistle ability to adjust his mentality.
Han Che did not answer Raven's question, but instead asked,
"Shi Ding has been searching for you inside and outside the prison for ages, but he couldn't find you. He thought you had escaped! What are you doing outside the window?"
The raven looked at him strangely. "Isn't the answer in the riddle? I've been hiding from Shi Ding!"
"All my hammer soldiers have betrayed me and are now following your Shi Ding. Not only do I not have a single reliable helper, but they also want to work with Shi Ding to get me."
"I tried to hide in your office to avoid the light, but Shi Lei came, so I had to open the window and run outside."
"And wouldn't you know it! Shi Lei came in and closed the window! Luckily you're back, I was freezing last night!" He rubbed his hands together and breathed on his fingers to warm them.
Han Che was speechless at Raven's answer and stared at him.
Raven said he had never left the prison and that he was hiding outside the window to avoid Shi Ding.
Coming to his senses, Han Che took a step closer, grabbed Raven's collar, and asked urgently, "Where's Dayong? Where did Dayong go?"
Raven was completely bewildered by the sudden question, looking at him like he was a delirious patient. "Dayong? Your machine gunner? How would I know where he is? Is he lost?"
"He's not with you?" Han Che's eyes widened.
"Why am I with your machine gunner?" Raven asked, puzzled.
Han Che's eyes darkened as the headache and tinnitus resurfaced, spreading from the back of his head forward.
Raven suddenly patted Han Che on the shoulder, pulling him back from his daze. "Don't have this episode again! Tell me what's going on!"
The slap brought Han Che back to his senses. He took a deep breath and composed himself. "After the prison closed yesterday, only you and Dayong went missing, so I assumed he had gone somewhere else with you."
Raven stroked his chin. "You've even searched the prisons?"
"I've looked everywhere, countless times!"
The raven rolled its eyes. "Even I couldn't find it, and the search wasn't even very thorough!"
Raven then glanced at Han Che's expression and realized this wasn't the time for jokes, so he quickly became serious and said, "The places you've been looking for are nothing more than inside and outside the prison, places you can go. So you didn't find me hanging outside the building window." He drew a circle in the air with his finger.
"Besides these places, where else? There are indeed many places to hide in Tidal Prison, but a machine gunner with such a large physique... that shouldn't be the case."
He tapped his temples twice with his fingers. "Could it be that I can swim out...?" the raven muttered to himself.
These words struck Han Che like a stone thrown into water. In his mind, the scattered clues suddenly connected, like a chain, link by link.
"Shi Ding led his men to the tide control room to investigate the situation..."
"A player's body was found there..."
"Water monster! Water monkey..."
"Why didn't you intend to kill me when you were so close...?"
"A jet of water erupted from underwater, tearing the two players to shreds..."
"He can't possibly swim out...,"
Han Che suddenly turned around, slammed his hand on the table, picked up the walkie-talkie, and shouted, "Shi Ding!"
"Received, Your Excellency Warden," came the immediate reply from the walkie-talkie.
"Immediately have all prison guards search the water! Especially the area near the delayed evacuation point in the middle of the water storage area! Hurry!"
"Yes!" came the reply without hesitation from the other end of the walkie-talkie.
Then, the sound of hurried footsteps could be heard throughout the entire prison.
"Let's go too!" Han Che ran outside, his hand gripping Raven's wrist with great strength, like an iron clamp, dragging him away.
The raven was being dragged along by him, and it couldn't keep up. It stumbled and almost fell.
"Hey hey hey hey! I guess I won't go! Hey!" Raven struggled but couldn't break free, and was helplessly dragged out of the office by the warden.
It was very close to the diving hole. After Han Che and Raven arrived, Shi Ding followed closely behind with his personal guards and prison guards.
"Your Excellency the Warden..." Shi Ding greeted Han Che, and then he saw a figure hiding behind Han Che, shrinking down and trying to hide himself.
"Raven!"
"Hi~ Brother Shi Ding, how have you been lately!" Seeing that she could no longer hide it, Raven had no choice but to turn around and wave the hand that Han Che was not holding, greeting him in a very unnatural manner.
"Where have you been!" Shi Ding shouted, lifting his shield from the ground and holding it in front of him. He leaned forward, and if Han Che hadn't been there in front of him, Shi Ding would have looked like he was about to slap a raven.
"Shi Ding," Han Che interrupted, "Da Yong might be underwater, somewhere! Search quickly, pull him out, there's still time to revive him!"
Upon hearing this, Shi Ding's pupils contracted sharply, utterly astonished. "What? Da Yong is in the water? Doesn't he not know how to swim?!"
Then, more than a dozen prison guards behind him went into the water and scattered to search underwater.
Raven watched the prison guards nimbly go into the water and couldn't help but look on with envy.
"Your Excellency the Warden..." Shi Ding called out, and Han Che turned around. Shi Ding looked at the raven beside him, seemingly wanting to say something but then stopped.
Han Che glanced at Raven, then shifted his gaze back to Shi Ding, and sighed softly, "It's alright, go ahead and speak!"
"Tsk... Trying to guard against me!" Raven muttered under his breath.
Shi Ding ignored him and nodded to Han Che, saying, "During the previous training, as you requested, every prison guard underwent swimming training, but Dayong... couldn't float, so we didn't let him go into the water."
"But he had previously performed underwater breath-holding and walking exercises during training, so I suspect he might be..."
Now everything seems to make sense, but why would Dayong come here?
"Huh?" Before Han Che could even ask, the raven beside him cawed.
"Machine gunner? Swimmer? Can't float? These are such niche terms. How can he float in that heavy metal armor?"
Han Che never expected that his casual remark that all prison guards should be able to swim would include machine gunners as well...
"Do you know how much power it takes to make something this big float? Do you think this is shipbuilding...?" Raven lectured on and on, explaining the principles, and before he knew it, he was talking about fluid mechanics.
Han Che pinched the bridge of his nose. "Can you help me?"
"...What?" Raven was taken aback.
"Help me make it happen, make Dayong float," Han Che said casually.
"No, I already said this, it's comparable to manufacturing a vehicle, it can only be done by... wait, why should I help you?" Raven suddenly realized.
"Report!!" At that moment, a prison guard surfaced, waving his hand and shouting, "Here! We've found Brother Dayong underwater!"
Han Che's eyes lit up. "Quick! Pull him up!"
